Kinalas and Kinalas Festival

While it is true that kinalas is known to many Nagueños, it, too, is  like an ordinary food taken for granted by people, with the mushrooming food establishments and the continuous welcoming of foreign food. To promote and continue the heritage of the local food, Mayor John G. Bongat, the newly-elected mayor of Naga City, is planning to propose a festival for kinalas. In the festival, the people of Naga will showcase kinalas and prove that kinalas can add more to the identity of Naga.
In an interview with Mayor Bongat, he said that he eats kinalas even before he was elected mayor, and tries to eke some timeout from his busy schedule now as mayor for a bowl of a sumptuous kinalas.

How Nourishing is Kinalas?
Being a local food one may ask about its nutritional value, and the team’s  sure solution to this problem is a nutritionist. The City Health’s Nutritionist by the name Raquel B. Buere gave the team nutritional values of each ingredient of kinalas-from the noodles, to the broth, and to the sauce. And of course, the kinalas as a whole noodle dish.
Since the kinalas is mostly made up of meat with fat from the head of a pig, Ms. Buere gave some warning. “Kinalas is rich in cholesterol, so eating many times in a week is discouraged. Eat kinalas at most thrice a week”, she said with a smile before the video stopped rolling.
The video below will show the complete interview with Ms. Buere.
